We know what most gamers think about the DSi LL, but what does the non-gamer have to say? Nintendo has created the DSi LL to woo non-gamers, all by having them stop and take a look at the portable’s giant screens. Now that the system is out and about in Japan, what do these DS newcomers have to say about the platform? Does it tickle their fancy, or turn them away? Article here

A portion of a Nintendo Life review… If you don’t have a Japanese Wii to take advantage of the excellent disc or WiiWare versions from Sunsoft, then you may want to exercise some patience and wait for a possible WiiWare release; you can always play it on the web while you wait! Full review here

Mashed potatoes…that’s where it’s at for Thanksgiving. You can have everything else…just give that bowl of starch to me! My belly is quite full indeed, so I’m slinking off to bed for a good night’s rest. I’ll see you guys in just a few, short hours! I know that some of you don’t exactly look forward to spending time with your family on holidays, as the recipe can be one for disaster. A bunch of adults sitting around discussing things that happened long before you were born. Then, a few hours later the room is dominated by snores and sleeping bodies as the splurge on turkey and all the fixings put your aunts/uncles/cousins/ect into a food-induced stooper. Hopefully that wasn’t the case for your day! As we mentioned earlier last night, we were hoping you guys would get some gaming in on the day of thanks. With all the family and friends around, it could turn out to be the perfect time for some multiplayer fun. I mean, New Super Mario Bros. Wii is just too enticing not to pester your family into playing! The Wii is always a big hit at family gatherings, and having a new, core-oriented title to play is a great thing! Here at the warehouse, I was actually pretty busy with the site. Seemed like the news wasn’t going to stop just for some turkeys! With that said, I only got in a little bit of single-player fun, which came in the form of Wireway. Not the multiplayer festivities that I wanted to partake in, but fun nonetheless. Leave us a comment and let us know how your Thanksgiving gaming went. If you don’t celebrate the event, just let us know what you played during the day in your free time!

GoNintendo ‘End of Day’ thoughts - Did you game for Thanksgiving?

No need for much of an aside tonight, as the thought speaks for itself! I’m off to bed…see you in a few, short hours! Ah, I only get to use this image once a year, but it’s been in the rotation for at least 3 years now. The perfect image for the holiday! To all those that celebrate Thanksgiving, I wish you a very happy day spent with family and friends. Stuff yourselves just a little bit more than usual, but make sure you save room for desert! Then you can plop down on a couch and let it all settle while you catch some TV…or play some games. After eating all that grub, you should have a nice little tummy shelf to rest your DS on! Of course, I wish the same sentiments to those that don’t celebrate Thanksgiving. If you’re in a position to do so, spend some time with the ones you love. Any excuse to be around people that make you happy is always a good one. With it being Thanksgiving, I have to once again say how thankful I am for all of you. You’ve heard a million times over, and you’ll hear it until the day I die…or the site dies. I think my passing will happen first! Either way, I offer up a thank-you in an absolutely immeasurable amount, plus a little bit more. The last 4+ years of my life have been absolutely surreal, and I owe every last bit of it to every single one of you. You’ve made a dream come true, and I can only hope that GoNintendo puts a smile on your face day in and day out. For those wondering, I honestly don’t know what my schedule will be for Thanksgiving. I’m either going to do a weekend-style schedule, or a normal work day. It all depends on what the news is like in the morning. Either way, I’ll be around to cover news no matter what! Thanksgiving is at the warehouse this year, so it’ll be extra easy for me to hit up the workstation and see what’s happening in the land of Nintendo. I’ll be sure to inform you of the schedule plans once I have a better idea of what the day is looking like. As I said, either way you’ll be getting news all day long!

A portion of an Iwata asks feature on New Super Mario Bros. Wii… Iwata : I sense that you’re really getting a very strong “feel” from this game. Miyamoto : Of course! Iwata : It seems that you feel you’ve been able to achieve a structure for this game that you’ve long aimed for. Miyamoto : Yes, I have. I’ve always wanted to make a multiplayer Mario. It’s been my dream for many years. I really feel that this time, we’ve pulled it off. Iwata : Recently, you have become deeply absorbed in a large number of the games that we’ve made. But with New Super Mario Bros. Wii, there is clearly something different about the depth and the manner in which you’ve become absorbed. Miyamoto : Well, I was even writing specification documents! (laughs) Iwata : (laughs) You’ve really worked incredibly hard on this one! At the 2009 E3, I spoke about Nintendo wanting to make “games for everyone.” It’s become commonplace to assume that as games continue to develop, they will steadily become more clearly divided between games for very skilled players and games for beginners. But the motivation behind my speech was my strong belief that in order to further expand the gaming population, it’s necessary to make games that everyone can enjoy, regardless of their abilities. Now, perhaps it’s because they consider this completely unfeasible, but this isn’t something that a lot of other people seem to discuss. But in spite of that, I am very serious when it comes to making games for everyone and this is something, Miyamoto-san, which you and I have been talking about constantly for over a decade. The impression I get is that with Mario, which is in no sense an easy type of game for such a purpose, you have actually gone and done it - you’ve made a “game for everyone.” I’m quite excited to see how this new Mario title will be played. There’ll be plenty of players who will feel: “Wow! I can do this!” At the same time, players who are confident in their abilities won’t feel that the game is too tame and we’ll see them erasing their data and playing from the start to ensure that no hint blocks pop up. “Nintendo has become one of those companies that graduates from colleges and good universities really want to work for. Because of that, the competition’s really become so fierce for positions. And that means that a lot of the recent recruits for Nintendo have tended to have the higher degree from the prestigious colleges and universities and whatnot. I often say to Mr Iwata: ‘If I was applying for a job here today, I, with my actual college degree, would probably not have been employed by Nintendo. I might pick up on [applicants] and try to find out something really different within them which you can’t judge just by a college degree,” he said. “That’s one of the special little jobs I set myself.” - Shigeru Miyamoto I think Miyamoto has more than proved himself worthy of a position in the company. While degrees and things of that like are important, let’s hope that businesses don’t always take that route. Experience on the job is quite important as well! Link
