Ah, it’s been awhile since we had a show that screwed up while recording. Glad to see that we can still have problems from time to time! The show ended up saving at a much lower quality than normal. Rather than edit down a show and make it harder to hear, I’m just giving you the raw file. It’s better than nothing, but it’s certainly not up to our usual standards. My apologies for the issue! Download the show here (thanks to our old comic artist Scott for his artwork!)

That new Metroid: Other M trailer is jam-packed full of interesting stuff. I think we need one of those GameTrailers breakdown videos to see all the new and mysterious stuff that is shown off. Make sure you catch that one before you head off to bed! I saw it a few times now, so I’m off to get my sleep! See you in a few, short hours. Oh man, this Kirby cartoon isn’t that good at all. I can’t wait to see just how different the Japanese version is compared to this butchered NA version. I can’t get over some of the decisions made. For example, what the hell is up with King Dedede’s voice? Man, it drives me absolutely nuts! I mean, that’s just a minor quibble in the grand scheme of things, but it’s still a complaint! It just seems like a snowball of bad decisions that running full steam ahead. Perhaps episode 2 is a bit better? Direct link and parts 2, 3 here

Cory has a lot to say in this week’s feature, so I figured I’d leave the post to him! I mean, it’s his feature after all. It doesn’t need to be cluttered up with my nonsensical ramblings. I’ll just step aside and let him do his thing. I needed to get some rest anyways! See you in a few, short hours. __________________ Hey everyone, it’s good to be back with bit and run! As I said just about every week during the first run of comics, it’s a pleasure to make these. I get a ton of enjoyment out it and I’m very glad if you guys are able to enjoy them as well. I wanted to give you a little bonus for this week, but first a little background on this “bit and run” project — some of you may remember back in January of this year why I started making these comics. I was in the midst of large client project in the fall/winter of 2009 (I work as an animator and illustrator) I was doing something like 15, 17 hours a day, 7 days a week for 3 months. I found that I couldn’t sleep after working that long, my mind buzzing with everything I wasn’t done with, so to help keep my sanity I’d play a little Mario before I crashed for the night. Mario 2, Mario 3 mostly. I found it absolutely decompressed me. From there, in the early hours of the morning I began to think up comics and started jotting them down while playing. I have no idea why. I don’t know where they came from. After a few nights of this I amassed a folder full of quickly scrawled comics and doodles. To contrast making a comic in say an hour or two with a months long project that never seemed complete brought me the satisfaction I was missing. From there we’ve got bit and run Volume One. So all that to say I wrote all of these comics (Vol. 1 and 2) many months ago. Now with Volume Two I’m going back to that folder but I’m trying a few new things; spending a little more time on the drawing, pushing the 8-bit palette some, rewriting and adding new comics, and like with today’s for example, I made a bonus. Below you’ll find an “extended” cut, so to speak. I went ahead with the original version (above) but I decided to do a little extra with the same idea. Certainly the original is my preferred version but after Mario’s sentence in the third panel of the extended comic below came to me and struck me so dang funny I had to finish the whole thing. And I like the way the Thwomp looks in panel 2. So, long story short, in the end I wanted to give you guys both. I hope you enjoy. And one last thing, in case it hasn’t been clearly stated yet — we’re back for another three months of Fridays with these comics. August 6th - October 29th. Enjoy! __________________

Holy crap, 260 shows already? Does that mean something special? We couldn’t really figure that out during the show, but I’d say that it was still a good one. Just ignore the music section, because we absolutely bomb that. Download the show here (and please put that picture to good use!)

Friday my friends…Friday is here. Do you have plans for the weekend? I sure hope so, because you’ve earned the free time! Let’s just get through Friday so we can all enjoy some rest and relaxation. I’m heading off to bed in order to get some energy to power through Friday! See you in a few, short hours. It’s time…it’s finally time. The wonderful ‘bit and run’ series from Cory Godbey has returned! It seemed like it took forever for August to get here, but now we’re ending the work week with a bang. I always liked Fridays better when we had a ‘bit and run’ comic to kick things off! If you missed out on the first volume of ‘bit and run’, you can catch the entire series right here. You want to know what I like most about the first entry in volume 2, other than the fact that the series is back? Oddly enough, it’s the coloring this time around. I think it really, really captures Super Mario Bros. 3. I wouldn’t doubt that Cory put a ton of time into making sure the aesthetics really matched up with the source material. I think we all know from volume 1 that Cory knows what he’s doing! That’s enough blabbering from me. Check out the comic below, leave Cory your comments, and feel free to gush away!
