Direct link, more screens and art here Release Date: Early 2011 Genre: Action Adventure Platform: Nintendo DS Rating: Pending Developer: Capcom Publisher: Capcom Game Description: Ōkamiden is a picturesque action adventure game for the Nintendo DS. Taking place a few months after the events of Ōkami, Ōkamiden will follow the adventures of Chibiterasu – a young sun god who is summoned to protect the land. Following in the footsteps of its parent Amaterasu, the sun-god-turned-wolf in Ōkami, Chibiterasu takes the form of an adorable wolf pup for the mission ahead. Chibiterasu will join forces with a rich cast of characters to fight off a new threat that has leeched the world of its vibrant color again. Beyond the battles, Chibiterasu and buddies will come to realize their inner potential and accept the kinship that comes with being the children of great heroes and gods. Using the DS stylus, players will wield a celestial brush controlled by Chibiterasu. This powerful tool can attack enemies, paint helpful objects and structures into existence and help Chibiterasu perform exceptional feats that will change the world before the player’s eyes. Chibiterasu’s partners in the game will have unique abilities of their own that help the player conquer puzzles and face an onslaught of perilous challenges. By blending vivid myth, artistic action and the innovative Nintendo DS, Ōkamiden has all the makings of a handheld classic. Ōkamiden takes the best elements of the Ōkami series and combines them with invigorating new features delivering an extraordinary adventure sure to please fans of the series and newcomers alike. In development for the Nintendo DS™, Ōkamiden will be available early 2011. Features: • Canvas and Brush: The touch screen and stylus of the Nintendo DS™ are the ideal tools to simulate Okamiden’s trademark celestial brush. The stylus brushstrokes are pressure sensitive helping to accurately depict the look and feel of Sumi-e artwork – a graceful watercolor art. • Partner-Up: As you encounter various characters throughout the game players can join forces with certain new characters, such as Kuni, a young swordsman and Nanami, a blue-haired mermaid, each possessing unique abilities that will help Chibiterasu defeat enemies and conquer puzzles. • Striking Visuals: The beauty of the highly stylized Japanese calligraphy and scroll paintings are depicted in pixel-perfect handheld glory. • Dynamic Action: Employ brush techniques learned from various celestial deities and Power Slash, Bloom, and battle a diverse lineup of monsters and demons rooted in Japanese folklore. • Interactive Puzzles: Draw bridges into existence, transverse canyons, and connect winding paths through space by using the celestial brush and the abilities of Chibiterasu’s partners. • Ensemble Cast: The main character, Chibiterasu, is a youthful sun god that has taken the form of an adorable wolf pup. Chibiterasu partners up with an equally endearing cast of characters that aim to restore order to the land while learning lessons from majestic, playful deities. Many characters will be easily recognizable to fans of Ōkami™ while several are new to the series. • Compelling Narrative: Ōkamiden tells an amazing story that is both morally impactful and fun. With a complex mix of themes like friendship, responsibility and love between parent and child, players are promised a memorable experience.

As much as I like to push the weekend hours as much as possible, I think it’s time for me to head to bed. I’d love to stay up and play games all night, but that would just end up ruining the rest of my weekend. I don’t want to stay up super late on Saturday morning, just to sleep Saturday and Sunday away! I’m calling it quits for the night, but I’ll see you all in a few, short hours. I can’t believe we haven’t talked about this cartoon series more! I think it might have something to do with my dislike for the series. It doesn’t have anything to do with Kirby as a character, but instead, the way this Japanese series was brought over to the states. The amount of cuts, edits and removals that Kirby: Right Back At Ya! saw in its localization were staggering. We’re talking about music changes, sound effects, character personality traits and relationships…major, major changes. To put it lightly, the show was butchered from its original version. With that said, let’s check out episode one of the series and see how it holds up. I think at a later date, we’ll take a look at the Japanese version’s first episode with English subs. It should be interesting to see which one comes out on top. Direct link here

- when a chapter is started, all 20 main levels are available from the start - you can play these in any order - you must complete 17 of the 20 levels to open a new chapter - defeat all 5 bosses to get a new chapter - four cut-scenes per chapter: a videogame parody introduction, an entrance for the chapter’s boss, a conclusion, and a video revealing that level’s indie character warp zone - “So this is C.H.A.D., a giant contaminated mass of blood and tissue that simply loves Meat Boy too much to let him leave. The fight starts out how you see it in that pic, C.H.A.D. jumps around the screen splashing in and out of a lake of blood as you attempt to acquire a key which opens up the next floor. Whe you grab the key the pool of blood under you to starts to rise, and C.H.A.D. goes nuts.” - Team Meat More screens, art here

We actually do get to answering some questions this week. I know, you guys must be so proud! All around, I’d say it was a pretty good show, filled with lots of great discussion, and topped off by a stellar music quiz performance. What more could we ask for?! Download the show here (thank you for being a friend, Blanche)

I can’t stop playing Fragile Dreams. It may not be the best game in the world, but the ideas and story elements that it presents are top-notch. I really feel like I’m experiencing the adventure, rather than playing it. Pretty damn good game…don’t listen to IGN! I’m going to nod off to the thoughts about life that the game has filled me with. See you all in a few, short hours. It’s sneaking up on us, gang. The final installment of the ‘bit and run’ series is just around the corner. Let’s just pretend that the whole series is ahead of us, instead of coming to a close. Actually, it’ll be hard to think that way after reading what Cory had to say this week. Man, I can’t believe that we’ve already arrived at the penultimate installment of bit and run. It seems like only last night I was bleary-eyed and playing Mario 2 in the early hours of the morning thinking up all this nonsense. Anyway, I wanted to take a moment and thank you all again. It’s truly been a pleasure for me to do and I’m glad for the chance that it might have made you guys smile. Next week for the final installment of “bit and run” Volume 1, I’m going to do something a little different. I think you’re going to like it.

Nic Watt from Nnooo has spoken out on the DS 2, and he’s letting Nintendo know about a pair of features he’d like to see it have. In his opinion, the addition of 3G support as well as GPS capabilities would open up a brand-new world of gaming fun for the platform. Nnooo obviously has ideas for games that could take advantage of these features, but I just don’t see Nintendo going in that direction. Link
