Throughout the course of every year, we always discuss a handful of games that end up getting banned in various places around the world. I think the big topic of discussion with game bannings had to come in with Manhunt 2, which caused quite a stir over in the UK. While that’s a high-profile rating situation, does it point to the UK having the strictest guidelines? Just what country ends up banning the most games? Article here

A portion of a Siliconera review… …I think The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is an interesting display of how new ideas are conceived and refined, and that’s half the reason I’m glad I picked it up. After playing it, it’s easy to see why this team was enlisted to help the main Zelda team out on Zelda Wii. Full review here

This definitely ranks up there as one of the biggest ‘EoD’ grabs that we’ve ever had. At least, that’s how I feel about it! I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do. Enough from me…get to watching! See you in a few, short hours. Outside of first party offerings, what’s my most anticipated Wii title for next year? Without a doubt, that would be No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle. I can’t even tell you how much I loved the first game. It may have been rough around the edges, but the style, core gameplay and cast of characters were too damn good for me to worry about those other issues. Travis Touchdown is, without question, one of the coolest male leads in the video game industry. Imagine my surprise when Ubisoft got in touch in order to share an exclusive new trailer for No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle! I could barely contain myself while typing my email response. I’m not afraid to admit that I’m a slobbering fanboy when it comes to No More Heroes, so I jumped at the chance to offer up this new trailer. What are you going to be checking out? Well, this brand-new trailer shows off a random mix of the 8-bit jobs that Travis will be getting down with. You’ll see some footage of previously revealed games…and you might even see some new content as well. I’m not ruining the fun! You’ll have to watch the trailer below to see for yourself! A huge, HUGE thank you to our friends at Ubisoft for sending this trailer our way. It’s my pleasure to share it with everyone! Direct link here

Nicky Hill said something to me earlier today that I picked up on as well. Game industry news has been a little slower than usual lately. I had a feeling things would go this way. Right after Thanksgiving, everyone really seems to be in the Winter holiday mood. On top of that, December really doesn’t have the big-name titles it usually does. There are only a handful of AAA titles on the way. All that leads to a quiet time of the year. With that said, I’m still doing/have been doing my job as usual! Sorry if the quiet nature of the game industry has you craving more news! Sometimes, there’s just not a lot to report! Hopefully this video will be a perk for your day. See you all in a few, short hours! As promised, I have some footage from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for you guys. It turns out that I decided to record my footage at the perfect time! This 10 minute segment of play includes some traditional Zelda puzzling and enemy bashing, as well as some Spirit Flute play. You’ll have to excuse my rather lackluster play in some portions of the video. I had the camera in front of me, and then the DS in front of that. I had to reach around the camera to play, and try not to block the screen with my hand/stylus! Also, a second apology for the portions where I have to blow into the mic. You’ll see where blowing in the mic and strange stylus position really screw me over! With that said, I hope you enjoy the footage. I recorded my play on the DSi LL, so the video should be of a better quality than usual. Please, if you have any video requests or questions in general, feel free to leave a comment. I’d be more than happy to do more video footage for another night, if you guys want that. Direct link here

“Nintendo has become one of those companies that graduates from colleges and good universities really want to work for. Because of that, the competition’s really become so fierce for positions. And that means that a lot of the recent recruits for Nintendo have tended to have the higher degree from the prestigious colleges and universities and whatnot. I often say to Mr Iwata: ‘If I was applying for a job here today, I, with my actual college degree, would probably not have been employed by Nintendo. I might pick up on [applicants] and try to find out something really different within them which you can’t judge just by a college degree,” he said. “That’s one of the special little jobs I set myself.” - Shigeru Miyamoto I think Miyamoto has more than proved himself worthy of a position in the company. While degrees and things of that like are important, let’s hope that businesses don’t always take that route. Experience on the job is quite important as well! Link

Do you know what one of my favorite game soundtracks is? That would have to be Shantae. Do you know who composed that soundtrack? None other than Jake “virt” Kaufman, a composer that has done some amazing game scores, including Shatae and Contra IV. Do you know who just confirmed that they’re going to be heading back to WayForward in January 2010? Once again, we’re talking about Jake “virt” Kaufman. We have no word on whether or not Mr. Kaufman is going to be scoring the upcoming Shantae episodic series, but I sure hope so. I’m thinking the episodic series and Mr. Kaufman’s move to WayForward can’t be coincidental. link

“So far it’s been selling very well. We’ve been really pleased with the numbers…we’re really pleased as we get ready for the holiday season.” - Reggie Fils-Aime Reggie also commented on the Wii being beat by the PS3 in sales totals for NPD numbers last month. “You have to put it in perspective. Sony had 5 full weeks of price reduction in their favor. We had the one week, and even with that the gap was pretty small.” Link

I did an ‘End of Day’ thought about this a long time ago, and I was pretty interested to see what people had to say. Nowadays there is certainly more game-related clothing than there was back then, and I see all sorts of game clothes everywhere I go. I know that almost my entire clothing selection is video game related. I just don’t feel right wearing anything else! There’s just something about proudly displaying that you’re a gamer that makes me feel good! Article here
