I’m starting to feel more like myself this week. I’m catching up on my sleep, which has to be the reason why I’m feeling better. Time for me to keep the routine going, which means I’m off to bed! See you all in a few, short hours. I post a lot of boxart here on GoNintendo. For those of you that have been with the site for a long time, you know why I post boxart. For those that are new, I’ll quickly explain! I think boxart is a hugely important part of the video game business, but unfortunately, it’s an aspect that a lot of companies seem to ignore. Just think about all the missed sales opportunities that are the result of ugly boxart. I know that when I was younger, I would ignore games that had crappy boxart. I’ve become a bit smarter since then (just a bit), but there are still millions of consumers that won’t touch a game if the boxart isn’t appealing. Boxart in and of itself has the power to be extremely appealing in a number of ways. I have some game boxes that I feel deserve to be framed and sitting on my walls. Some of this stuff is truly breath-taking, but the boxart in the video below is the exact opposite. Seriously, check out this video and picture a younger version of yourself walking into GameStop. With a few exceptions, would the covers shown below interest you, or turn you away? Video Games | 100 Ugly Boxshots XBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii

I got to swim in the ocean a bit earlier on Tuesday. The water was absolutely perfect, from waves to temperature. While I had a to of fun, all that swimming knocked the life out of me! I’m heading to bed to get some much-needed sleep, but I’ll see you guys in a few, short hours. Here’s to a fantastic Wednesday for all. Video Games | Link spriting timelapse XBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii I want to say this right from the start. I think the above video is absolutely awesome…a true bit of love for Nintendo. It’s unabashed Nintendo love in a very palatable form. I know I’m jealous of the skills on display! You and I both know that Nintendo fans really love the Big N. Microsoft has their fans, and Sony has their legion as well, but Nintendo fans are very well known for pushing things to the very edge, and then leaping to the next level. We can’t help it, we just love Nintendo that much! If you are reading this site right now, chances are that you’re a pretty big Nintendo fan. With that said, there must be one thing you’ve done in your life that went a little above and beyond when it comes to being a Big N follower. What was that one step you took that even you think might have been a little too far…yet you’re very proud of it! For me, there were a few things. I guess one of the more extreme acts of love had to be my younger days. At one point in my life, I used to take game magazines and cut out every single Nintendo-related ad or picture. I’d then take those pictures, either super tiny or full page, and taped them all over the door to my bedroom. In a matter of months, you couldn’t even see my door! I’m talking about everything from character art to even tiny clippings that mentioned Nintendo. When I look back on it, I can’t believe that I did it…but I’m happy I did! Leave a comment and share your dark Nintendo secret. How far have you taken your obsession?!

Busy Thursday, it was. Friday is going to be the same, but at least the weekend is almost within reach. Just one more day until a bit of relaxation. Hopefully you guys have had a great week at work/school/whatever it is you do. Let’s push hard through this Friday, and then get to enjoying our hard-earned downtime! I’m heading to bed to get the wheels in motion. See you all in a few, short hours. Video Games | TMNT: Smash-Up | Character Vignette #1 XBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii I am a huge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan. I have been for many, many years, and I always will be. I have watched the newer cartoon, I’ve read the comics, I watched the old cartoon, and I went to see all the movies in-theater. The declaration of a true Turtles nerd, and I’m happy to be one. It’s the facts stated above that show you just how pumped I am for TMNT: Smash-Up!. Anytime a new Turtles game comes out, it automatically gets my interest. While the more recent entries in the franchise haven’t been that fantastic, this new title showed a ton of promise from day one. The trailer looked interesting enough, but the pedigree of the people behind the game is what really got me excited. Not surprisingly, I am a huge fan of the Smash Bros. series as well. While I haven’t had as much time poured into Brawl as I would like, I spent years with Melee and the original. There’s just no better local multiplayer fun, in my opinion. When you take some of the team that created Brawl and bring it over into a Turtles title, I start to feel all tingly. When I saw that the game was going to be a Smash Bros. clone, I had to catch my breath for a moment. Now the hype machine is rolling along, with impressions from E3 turning out to be very positive. I had my hands on with the game, and out of all the titles at the show, there were only two others that left me wanting more playtime so badly. If I had it my way, I would own Spirit Tracks, NSMB Wii and TMNT: Smash-Up! right now. Smash Bros. fans, are you looking forward to this TMNT outing? Do you think it can hold a candle to the series we love? If things continue to go well, Ubisoft could end up with an absolutely huge franchise on their hands. I just don’t know if Smash Bros. players are willing to make room for two brawlers in their lives. That’s why I turn to you guys…to ask you that very question! Leave us a comment and let us know how you feel.

You made it to Friday in Paperboy This is something I’ve actually done, but only just a few years ago! When I played the game as a kid, I thought it was pretty tough. Once I got older, I guess my gaming skills got a bit better! I’m sure I’m not anywhere near being in an elite group here. Full article here

The upcoming issue of Japanese game magazine Famitsu has an interview with Final Fantasy XIII director and scenario writer Motomu Toriyama. According to Toriyama, the in-development game is currently running at a resolution of 720p with a frame rate of 30fps. Square Enix is doing its best to make sure as many people as possible can enjoy the game — thus, developers are being very careful that all onscreen words and letters can be read on analog TVs. This hopefully avoids tiny text issues that arose when Capcom’s Dead Rising and Rare’s Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts were played on standard televisions. Considerate considering how not everyone who will play FFXIII will do so on a HD TV, and smart because this means Square Enix won’t have to rush out a patch after people freak about tiny text. Another piece of good news: cut scenes can be paused or skipped. Square Enix sounds like it’s hitting the home stretch with the game. “We’ve almost finished all the parts of the game,” says Toriyama. “From now on, it’s a matter of putting them together.” Square will give the battle system a revision before final release, but the actual battle design work is nearly finished. About the demo, Famitsu reports that it clocks in at one hour and twenty from the onset of gameplay. Toriyama says the demo is “about an hour” of gameplay. What’s more, according to Famitsu , “there’s almost no load time” and “the background music is so so cool.”
