Well, we’ve never had a podcast like this one, and I hope we never do again. My voice is completely shot due to the cold I have, and it only gets worse as the show progresses. We’ve never missed a show, and I’m not letting this damn cold ruin that streak! Thanks for putting up with my mind-numbing shrills this week. Download the show here (come on and SLAM this into your ears, it’s time to JAM!) Link

I can’t tell if my cold is getting better or worse. I think all the ‘yucks’ from my head are draining down into my throat. That’s a good thing, right?! Oh well, enough with the gross talk. I hope you guys are all feeling great and healthy! I’ll see you all in a few, short hours. Cory has some special words to say this week, so I’ll step out of the virtual way and let him get to his message. I think you’ll like what you read. I wanted to take a minute and say thank you to everyone who has enjoyed these comics. They are a joy to make and I’m pleased that they’ve been so well received. I also wanted to make one thing clear regarding “bit and run” — I’ve actually got two volumes of comics written. My plan all along has been to run Vol. 1 from January 1 - March 26 and then take a break and use my free time to prepare for the San Diego Comic-Con (end of July) then begin releasing Vol. 2 from August 6 - October 29, another 3 month run. As much as I’ve loved making Vol 1., Vol. 2 is even better I think. Thanks again to Kevin and GoNintendo for this great partnership! - Cory

Some Australian gamers have been wondering why there haven’t been any updates to their version of Club Nintendo in awhile. Turns out that Nintendo of Australia isn’t actually the group in charge of positioning the upcoming updates for the service. That means, there’s nothing in the pipeline right now. Let’s hope that mess gets sorted out soon! Link

The ACCC has instituted Federal Court proceedings against Panasonic Australia, alleging that it engaged in misleading or deceptive conduct in offering bonus Nintendo Wiis with the purchase of Plasma televisions. From 23 November to 24 December 2008, Panasonic published advertisements offering bonus Nintendo Wii gaming consoles by redemption to all consumers who purchased a selected Full HD Viera Plasma television. - CRN Full report here

“The tour kicked off again on December 3rd and runs all the way through until Christmas Eve at Milton Keynes’ MK Centre, Manchester’s Trafford Centre and Lakeside. We are also running a BOGOF promotion in conjunction with GAME throughout Christmas on the Imagine range, advertising via leaflets that we will be handed out throughout the tour. We have already toured at Birmingham and Sheffield and had some great results with many girls interacting with the brand and also entering our competition to win a Nintendo DS. The tour has been very popular with kids and parents alike with high levels of participation. We have a great team working with us this year that are really passionate and always eager to engage with the customers. Imagine is already a recognised brand for these girls. They love the chance to be able to have a play and work out which games of the range are their favourites and what they really want for Christmas.” - brand manager Rachael Grant Ubisoft is set on milking the Imagine brand for all that it has. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with promoting your game line, I just think it sucks that Ubisoft takes that money and puts it mostly towards 360 and PS3 projects. Ubisoft, you have Red Steel 2 in the works for Wii…but how about some other core-oriented projects? Link

The other day, we learned that Miyamoto loves both Mario and Goombas as his favorite characters. While it’s tough for a creator to pick his favorite creations, it’s also tough for the millions of fans to pick their favorite as well. Out of all the characters that Miyamoto had a hand in creating, which one do you enjoy the most? I think I might actually have to go with Olimar…I just love that little guy. Article here

A portion of IGN’s impressions: The bulk of the roughly 15-minute E3 demo is set to one small portion of Caldera, but there’s plenty more to see in the final incarnation. The settings are all melanges of Asian and Western designs. “There will be the temple places. And then we want to go out into the canyons. A ghost town thing. We’re going to get on a train at one point and ride across the desert a bit. Mining town. That sort of thing,” explained Vandenberghe. The demo finishes as you square off in a sword fight against a hulking samurai thug who hurls a giant mallet at you if you come too close.
